Ordered the special banh mi (pork belly, ham, pate) and bulgogi fries. Everything tasted great. Wish there was a little more bulgogi on the fries. Their lychee tea is really good! The grilled pork banh mi is my favorite. Staff is nice.

I was told the sandwiches were the bomb here so I came to try them. It was my first time to try a bahn mi sandwich. I went with the grilled pork. I must say it was delicious and very good. I enjoyed it and I would definitely come back and try it again. There are some other varieties of sandwiches. I would like to try here. The ribeye sounds good. It's a funky little place. They played great music. Service was decent. I'd definitely come back

Today I had my first experience trying Vietnamese food and I couldn't be more satisfied. From the moment I entered, the atmosphere of the restaurant made me feel comfortable and welcome, with a cozy touch that invites you to stay. The staff was friendly, attentive and always willing to explain the dishes and make recommendations, something I really appreciated being my first time with this gastronomy. Each dish was an explosion of fresh, balanced and authentic flavors. The care was noticeable in the presentation and in the quality of the ingredients. I tried combinations that I had never imagined and I was pleasantly surprised. It was like a gastronomic trip to Vietnam without leaving the city. It has definitely been a unique culinary experience that I want to repeat. I recommend this place to all those who want to get out of the routine and discover new flavors full of life.

Roostar has been recommended by multiple coworkers of mine as having the best banh mi sandwiches in Houston. So, of course, I had to check it out. I will say that the banh mi sandwich I had was good but to call it the best is a bit of an overstatement. I got the special banh mi which has pork and garlic aioli. The price is about the same as other banh mi places but the sandwich was very small. Additionally, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it didn’t have a very traditional banh mi taste. It tasted like a fusion between banh mi and Philly cheesesteaks. Again, it was tasty, but just not what I was expecting. The service here is top notch though. Although there was minimal interaction between customers and employees, they were welcoming and answered questions with a smile.

Quick, tasty, and popular. Service and atmosphere: This place offers good number of seating places but they get taken quickly during lunch time. The restaurant was clean and staff were operating efficiently. Food and drinks: Good selection of various options. You can also build your own box/bowl. The ordering process was easy and quick. The food came fairly fast considering how busy they were. The food tested good. You can order soft drink with your meals. Pricing: $$ affordable and definitely good spot for quick bite or takeaway.

10+/10!! First time stopping by and it was amazing!! The grilled pork was super crunchy and delicious. I also ordered a lychee tea and the balance between both flavors was wonderful. I also received a complimentary sample of chicken and rice which was a little spicy but great!!! I will definitely come back to try more items.

Roostar is not a place of polish or pretense. It is, quite simply, a bánh mì haven—focused, unadorned, and deeply committed to doing one thing exceptionally well. In a city rich with global flavors, this modest shop has become my benchmark, the standard against which all other bánh mì are measured. Over years of travel and countless comparisons, no other has matched Roostar for sheer volume, flavor, and desirability. The sandwiches arrive generous and tightly composed, layers of savory meats, bright pickles, herbs, and sauce working in concert. The bread offers the right balance of crisp shell and yielding crumb, holding together under the weight of its filling while still shattering lightly with each bite. These are sandwiches that announce themselves boldly, with flavors that kick and linger. And yet, as remarkable as they are, they stop just short of obsession. I do not find myself fantasizing about them from afar, nor longing for them when absent. But when I am in Houston, I make a point of going—every time. I have done so dozens of times, and that consistency of return speaks volumes. Roostar has earned its place as a ritual, a reliable pleasure I would not willingly miss. What stands out most is their consistency. Visit after visit, the quality holds. No drifting flavors, no shrinking portions, no off days of note. In a category where variation is common, Roostar remains steadfast. I have yet to find another shop that truly compares. For some, this may well be a five-star destination. It has all the elements: excellence, reliability, and distinction within its niche. For me, however, it just misses that final, ineffable hook—the moment of transcendence that turns admiration into devotion. It is outstanding, but not transporting. Still, Roostar sets the bar. And being the bar is no small achievement. My rating: 1 star — I will never return. 2 stars — If nearby, I might return, but without urgency. 3 stars — Worth a visit if in the area, though not a destination in itself. 4 stars — Worth going out of your way to enjoy. 5 stars — I would fly around the world for this meal.
